Business Goals
Our client is a British multinational software and information technology business. They were listed on the London Stock Exchange and are a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index. They have 11,000+ employees from 48 countries, developing mission-critical software solutions and services.
Over the years, they acquired many companies specialising in IT technologies. After multiple acquisitions, they wanted to standardise internal processes and systems having NetSuite as central ERP supported by the Human Resources application (Workday), Expense application (SAP Concur), Treasury application (Treasury), Reconciliation application (Blackline) and other on-premise systems.
A critical success factor for this program was all these systems being able to integrate and provide a real-time synchronised view to the business users.
Technological Challenges
All the SaaS applications used by the client fulfilled their purposes, like management of expenses, treasury, reconciliation and Human Resources but did work in isolation. The main challenge was making these SaaS applications talk to each other and share data to produce a holistic view of all internal processes.
Developing a near real-time integration framework required understanding all the applications involved and their capabilities. In addition to modern SaaS applications, the client used some of their bespoke applications on-premise.
So, the need was for designing and implementing a hybrid architecture integrating applications on the cloud and on-premise.
How NeosAlpha Helped
We helped the client with integration use cases – analysis, design, implementation, and testing. Our solution architects assessed the capabilities of all applications that need to be integrated. Business analysts understood the current business processes and pain points. Requirements were gathered into different use cases so that architecture, design, development and testing could be planned efficiently.
Our deep experience in SaaS application integration helped to build a robust design. Our architects produced a framework-based implementation that was easy to change and lower maintenance costs. We developed multiple integration processes using Boomi iPaaS platform, connecting applications like Workday, SAP Concur, and Blackline with the NetSuite ERP.
